1960s
The Boys & Girls Clubs opened in 1967 as the Raleigh Boys Club in an old church in the historic Oakwood neighborhood.
1970s
In 1973, the Boys Club started its summer day camping program at Camp Charles M. Griffin. In 1978 the Boys Club moved to its new Clubhouse located at 605 Raleigh Blvd.
1980s
1986 marked the opening of the Wake Forest Boys Club and in 1987 the organization changed its name to Boys & Girls Clubs when it opened the Raleigh Girls Club in an old storefront on Glascock Street.
1990s
Camp Griffin was sold in 1990 and a new 162-acre campsite in Nash County was found. In 1992 the Raleigh Girls Club moved into its new home at 701 North Raleigh Blvd., and in 1996 the Wake Forest Boys & Girls Club moved into its new facility. In 1997, the Zebulon Boys & Girls Club was opened. In 1999 the Raleigh Boys Club building was renovated to include a co-educational Teen Center.
2000s
In 2006 the Brentwood Boys & Girls Club opened its location on New Hope Church Road, and shortly after teenagers got their own home in the Teen Center in 2007.
2010
During the past year, the Boys & Girls Clubs served over 4,300 school-aged children and teenagers throughout seven Club locations in Wake County.
