Jefferson Inspires Volunteers to Act!
For all of the volunteers involved in the Boys & Girls Clubs “Positive Place For Kids” Annual Campaign, myself included, it’s sometimes good to have a motivational boost to help get our fundraising juices going. In honor of our 3rd President, Thomas Jefferson, whose birthday was just a few days ago, here are some motivational quotes credited to Jefferson to help you along.
1) “Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you.”
2) “If you want something that you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done.”
3) “Determine never to be idle….It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing.”
― Thomas Jefferson
Jefferson would have made an excellent Boys & Girls Clubs volunteer. Here at the Boys & Girls Clubs, we are doing things we’ve never done before. For example – we’re serving 200 more children this year than we did last year. And the year before that, we did the same thing. The children keep coming – and they need us. To do what we’ve never done before, which is serve these 400 new children, we have to come up with new ways to fund the programs and services they need. We need you, as a part of our annual campaign, to ACT, because action, will indeed, delineate and define us and our ability to serve these children. We can’t be idle. It is wonderful how much could be done for these children if we will just ACT!
Will you ACT? When you go out for lunch this week, will you ask the restaurant manager if they will do a percentage night for us? Will you ask your friends and family to support you and your fundraising efforts? Will you ask your manager if your company matches funds that you raise? Will you do that? In this case, your action will not only delineate and define you, but could also delineate and define the lives many, many children. I hope you’ll choose to ACT!
