Youth Development Professional

Washington Elementary Boys & Girls Club

Primary Function: Delivery of quality programs, activities, and services for boys and girls 6 to 18 years of age that show measurable impact in participants’ academic success; good character and citizenship; and promotion of healthy lifestyle. Programs and activities must be organized, fun, meet the developmental needs of targeted age groups and scheduled to ensure maximum participation. Programs must be diverse and consistent with the organization’s youth development outcomes. Provide daily opportunities for Club members in several core program areas. Provide a safe and positive atmosphere for Club members to learn and grow that is sensitive to the cultural diversity of the Club members served.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Degree from accredited university or college in physical education; recreation; education; sociology or health education.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic leader interested in a career in youth development. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Proven leadership ability in the creation and delivery of education, leadership and sports programs for youth in a Boys & Girls Club, camp and/or community center setting.
  • Experience in the development of programs and activities for children and teens from public housing.
  • Strong communicator in both written and verbal forms.
  • Physically capable of carrying out assigned duties with expectation of being active majority of hours.
  • Control expenditures within approved budget and provide program data/measurements for grant supported activities.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Must be capable of obtaining CPR, First Aid and CDL Certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Participation and leadership in organizational wide events, programs and functions.
  • Market Club and programs to the community. Develop relationships with external groups and local schools that help deliver quality programs in and out of the Club.
