Young Advocates

Young Advocates LogoThe Young Advocates is an organization of young professionals who are dedicated to developing awareness of and interest in the Boys and Girls Clubs serving Wake County.

Young Advocates members join for a variety of reasons including:

  • Wanting to make a difference in the lives of Wake County children;
  • Enabling more children to participate in Club programs;
  • Giving back to the local community;
  • Developing a well-rounded resume and enhancing leadership and organizational skills;
  • Seeking new and valuable skills and knowledge to advance a career or start a new one;
  • Networking with other young professionals to strengthen interpersonal community relationships.

Young Advocates give as much or as little time as they are able to give from one hour per month to three hours a week in a variety of areas based on their skills and interests. Young Advocates are typically involved in activities including:

  • Assisting with quarterly social events;
  • Coordinating signature events including Appetite for Art;
  • Serving in a leadership capacity in fundraising/events;
  • membership/awareness and marketing;
  • Volunteering directly with Boys and Girls Clubs.

While these are some of the volunteer opportunities available, Young Advocates is continuously growing and looking for new skill sets to add to the organization.

Young Advocates is run by the Young Advocates themselves, and all members are asked to contribute ideas and support events. There are additionally two Chairs as a part of the Steering Committee who provide leadership and general direction for the organization.
