#GivingTuesday is a global day for giving that was founded in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y, in partnership with the United Nations Foundation. The goal of #GivingTuesday is to create a global day of giving back that celebrates generosity and kindness.
In the same way that Black Friday and Cyber Monday kickoff the buying season, #GivingTuesday kicks off the giving season. It’s a day to step back from the commercialization and consumerism that comes with the holiday season and promote doing good for others.
Since 2012 the #GivingTuesday Impact has continued to grow:

Boys & Girls Clubs has joined the global movement with our own #GivingTuesday Campaign featuring a new alternative gift giving opportunity for you to give back to your community and take care of your holiday shopping list! Our goal is to generate awareness through social media to reach 600,000 Triangle-area residents, attract community volunteers to our Clubs and raise $25,000 to support Boys & Girls Clubs programs.
The 12 Days of Impact are a series of stories helping generate awareness and excitement for #GivingTuesday.
