Art Benefit Event Presented by Boys and Girls Clubs Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary

Appetite for Art Draws Local Talent for Newly Re-Branded Event

(RALEIGH, N.C.)– Appetite for Art is a charity gala benefiting by The Boys & Girls Clubs of Wake County taking place on Friday, April 17, 2015. Hosted in downtown Raleigh, NC at CAM Raleigh, the event will bring together entrepreneurs, artists, professionals and prominent citizens to enjoy a night celebrating local art and food.

Lead by Boys & Girls Clubs Board of Directors member, Kim Swintosky, and volunteer Co-Chairs, Taylor Meadows and Joanna Ashe, the event has been reinvented for 2015. As a team they have secured an event space with CAM Raleigh, brought on Leah Goodnight as the juror for a juried art show, added Scott Crawford, a local chef known for his cuisine at Herons of The Umstead Hotel and Spa (Scott is also planning to open a new restaurant, Standard Foods this year), to cater a VIP reception, arranged for a slew of local distilleries, wineries and breweries to provide spirits, and an outstanding lineup of triangle restaurants to provide food for the event. If that isn’t enough, they have also commissioned the popular band Sidecar Social Club to provide jazz music and entertainment.

“Art and food together are the heart and soul of a city,” said Taylor Meadows, co-chair for Appetite for Art. “We want to give back, and recognize the abundant talent among us.”

The event will not only showcase art from talented artists from North Carolina, but will also showcase art from the kids from The Boys & Girls Clubs. The kids’ art will be part of the silent auction. Each kid will receive a portion of the proceeds of their individual art sales and the remaining proceeds will fund the art program.

“Seeing our kids’ art on display and showcasing what art means to the Boys & Girls Clubs is a wonderful opportunity,” said Ralph Capps, President and CEO. “We are excited about this event and thankful for the volunteers and community members that come together to enable and grow the Arts Programs at our Clubs.”

Appetite for Art has raised more than $285,000 to support the art programs at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wake County. This year, the major draw is the VIP ticket offering, which includes a pre-event meet and greet with some of the featured guests while enjoying unlimited open bar and cuisine.
