On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, Boys & Girls Clubs serving Wake County would like you to join us for #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving. #GivingTuesday serves as a counter narrative to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, reminding us that the spirit of the holiday giving season is about community and not just consumerism. We will be having a 24 hour campaign on #GivingTuesday featuring a new alternative gift giving opportunity for you to give back to your community and take care of your holiday shopping list! Our goal is to generate awareness through social media to reach 600,000 Triangle-area residents, attract community volunteers to our Clubs, and raise $25,000 to support Boys & Girls clubs programs. You can play a critical role in shaping the lives of our community’s young people by participating with us in this new tradition of generosity.

What do we need you to do?  We need you to A) participate and to B) promote!

Alternative Gift Giving– Give the Gift of a Great Future:
Did you know that 79% of Americans reported they would rather have a charitable donation made in their name in place of a traditional gift from a store? Alternative gift giving allows you to honor friends and loved ones with specific needs in the Clubs. For each gift you will receive a honor card to give that is hand decorated by a child who will be positively influenced thanks to your choice to Give the Gift of a Great FutureClick Here to learn more.

Donate:
Make a general donation supporting life-changing programming for the near 4,800 local children Boys & Girls Clubs serves each year.

Volunteer:
With 7 Clubs in the community, there is never a shortage of Clubs projects or kids who would enjoy the interaction of others. We invite group and individuals to join us on December 1st as volunteers at the Clubs and let the community know about it!

Promote Us:
For this campaign, we’re directing people to www.choosebgc.org and to use the #choosebgc hashtag. By encouraging Friends, Family and others to visit: www.choosebgc.org, you will provide them with the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of over 4,800 of our club members by providing vital funding.

This one day, PROMOTE the Boys & Girls Clubs on your Facebook page, Twitter feed, Instagram account, or whatever you have. We are asking that #GivingTuesday supporters take an “UNselfie”.  A photograph of yourself with a small sign proclaiming your support of the Boys & Girls Clubs on #GivingTuesday and directing them to www.choosebgc.org. A “UNselfie” printable sign will be available via our website, or you can make your own! Click Here to see a “UNselfie” tutorial.

Involvement or support can also be shared in other ways. If you don’t use social media – no problem.  In that case, text, email, or simply mail out a request to your contacts, but always ask them to forward along the www.choosebgc.org donation link.
