In partnership with Americorps and Student Coalition for Action in Literacy (SCALE) at the University of North Carolina, Boys & Girls Clubs serving Wake County is actively seeking candidates to fill a full-time Literacy Corps position at the Raleigh Boys Club.
Individuals who become part of a statewide corps of North Carolina LiteracyCorps AmeriCorps Full-Time Members will provide 1700 hours of service with a 12 month commitment, while receiving a living allowance of up to $12,100, and upon successful completion of the 1,700 hours and other AmeriCorps requirements, would be eligible to receive an educational award of $5,730.
Members would also receive a broad range of free training (covering topics such as program management, volunteer recruitment, literacy tutoring for K-12 students, and diversity). Additionally, Members plan and participate in service projects as part of AmeriCorps National Identity Days, as well as SCALE events, including: The 9/11 Day of Service & Remembrance, Make a Difference Day, Read.Write.Act. Virtual Conference, Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, National Literacy Action Week, Global Youth Service Day, and AmeriCorps Week.
