Leadership & Service

At the Boys & Girls Club, our paramount goal is to cultivate responsible citizens who positively contribute to society. Through initiatives like Keystone, we empower our members to take on leadership roles and engage in community service, fostering a sense of responsibility and altruism. The Torch Club provides a platform for our youth to develop essential life skills, promoting integrity and ethical decision-making. Furthermore, our Youth of the Year program recognizes and celebrates outstanding achievements, reinforcing the values of leadership, resilience, and civic engagement. Together, these programs exemplify our commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are not only academically successful but also dedicated to making meaningful contributions to their communities and society at large.

Youth of the Year

This leadership development program includes hands-on activities that explore topics such as identity, passion, personal branding, voice, teamwork, and goal setting, as well as activities to prepare youth for the Youth of the Year competition.  Teens learn to plan and achieve goals and how to present themselves before a panel of judges and large audiences.  Scholarships are made available to awardees, as well as regional and national exposure to leaders and leadership programs.

Torch Clubs

Small-group leadership and service clubs. Torch Club members learn to elect officers and work together to implement activities in the following four areas: service to Club and community, education, health and fitness, and social recreation. Each year, Torch Club members from all over the country take part in a service-learning experience through the National Torch Club Project.

Keystone Club

The Boys & Girls Club Movement’s most dynamic teen program, and it provides youth with valuable leadership and service experiences. Teens conduct activities in three areas: academic success, career exploration, and community service.

Leaders in Training

Teens develop interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic while engaging in work-based learning experiences throughout the Club. The program focuses on career development, apprenticeships, customer service, and community service.

Workforce Readiness

Our Clubs provide programs – like Career Launch and MoneyMatters – that provide members with the knowledge, skills, and learning experiences they need to succeed in life and work.
